Family Lessons in Southampton, NY
A family tennis lesson in Southampton costs the coach’s hour plus the court: a $75 family permit in Southampton Village, $44 an hour at Montauk Downs, or a family membership from $4,322 to $6,000+ at the clubs in 2026. A family lesson in Southampton is a summer-house hour: parents and children on the court behind the house, at the club or on a public court, with one coach running three levels at once. We put Southampton families in touch with one certified, background-checked coach who does exactly that.
Family lessons in Southampton: what's different here
The Village’s permitted public courts, the Town’s courts on Majors Path in North Sea, Southampton Racquet Club & Camp with Cliff Drysdale Tennis, the Meadow Club on First Neck Lane behind its gates, Future Stars’ camp courts, and the estate-section courts south of the highway.
Southampton families have a private court, a public permit and a club membership as real options within a few miles, and the coach we send you to teaches at whichever you have.
North Sea Community Park on Majors Path got four Har-Tru courts in 2010, built under Future Stars’ direction, and pickleball courts in October 2021; whether the tennis courts are still running in 2026, and at what fee, we could not confirm. Southampton Racquet Club & Camp at 665 Majors Path runs with Cliff Drysdale Tennis: adult clinics from beginner to 4.0-plus, Live Ball at 3.0–3.5 and 3.5-plus, a Sip N Serve social, camps with a complimentary membership, six pros listed, and 2026 memberships from $2,547.13 (individual), $3,770.11 (couple) and $4,321.84 (family), booked through the PlayByCourt app.
Public courts in Southampton are run by the Village of Southampton Parks Department inside the village (a $25 individual or $75 family court permit); Town of Southampton Parks & Recreation in Hampton Bays outside it; the tennis coach we put you in touch with knows the court rules and books the time.

FAQ
Family lessons questions
Do I need to belong to a club to take tennis lessons in the Hamptons?
No. Montauk Downs State Park rents its six Har-Tru courts to anyone at $44 an hour ($24 for members) from mid-May to October; the Village of Southampton sells a court permit at $25 (individual) or $75 (family); Sag Harbor’s Mashashimuet Park, 8 clay and 2 hard courts, is a nonprofit’s public facility with lessons, clinics and a camp; Ross School Tennis Center’s six Hydro Har-Tru courts are open to the public and under a bubble in winter, with private lessons at $175–190; SPORTIME Amagansett sells non-members clinics, camps and private instruction with a surcharge; and the East Hampton Tennis Club teaches non-members. The Town of East Hampton’s public courts in Springs, Amagansett and Montauk post a rule against unauthorised commercial activity, so a paid lesson there needs the Recreation Department’s say-so. A coach with a court of their own is the other answer.

How does Hamptons Ace Tennis work?
You tell us about the player once: who is learning, their level, what kind of lessons, when, and where in the Hamptons you are based. We put you in touch with one coach who teaches that age and level in your part of the fork, certified by the RSPA or the PTR and background-checked, and they call you within one business day. From there it is their rate, their schedule and their court, or yours. It is free for players and parents; participating coaches pay us a referral fee for the introduction. We are not a club, a camp or a coaching business, and we do not sell your details; the one coach we send you to is the only one who gets your number. We cover 9 South Fork towns and 6 kinds of coaching.
