Tennis camps in the Hamptons: the 2026 weeks, prices and what a week actually includes
A tennis camp week in the Hamptons costs $1,045–1,595 at Future Stars’ Southampton location and $1,095 on its East Hampton tennis track in 2026; extended day adds $50–85, lunch $75–100, transport $250–290, with $50 a week off for three or more weeks and $25 off for a sibling. Club camps run the season too: Hampton Racquet’s kids’ camp from June 1 to September 4, 2026, SPORTIME Amagansett’s East Hampton Sports Camp with daily tennis and swim, and Southampton Racquet Club’s camp with a membership included. Peak season is May 25 to September 7.

What a camp week is
A camp week is five days of morning tennis, usually 9 to noon or 9 to 3 with lunch, in a group by age and ball: red and orange ball for the youngest, green dot and yellow for the older children, with swimming, games and a sports field in the afternoons at the bigger sites. It is the fastest way a child improves in a summer, because the hours are consecutive, and the easiest week a parent buys, because the day is covered. The weeks sell by the week, not the month, so the first choice is which weeks.

Future Stars publishes its rate table; the club camps do not. Hampton Racquet’s kids’ summer camp runs June 1 to September 4, 2026; SPORTIME Amagansett’s East Hampton Sports Camp pairs daily tennis with swim instruction on a 25-acre site with 33 Har-Tru courts; Southampton Racquet Club’s camp, run with Cliff Drysdale Tennis, includes a complimentary membership; Sag Harbor Tennis runs a summer camp at Mashashimuet Park. We ask each for the current week price before we send you.
Choosing the weeks
Peak season is Memorial Day to Labor Day, May 25 to September 7 in 2026, and July and August are the warm, humid months, with 15–16 muggy days each at the nearest official station; camps run their tennis in the morning for that reason. A child new to the sport does better with two consecutive weeks than two weeks a month apart. A child on the tournament track wants the academy week, not the general one.
What to ask
The ratio of children to coaches; the ball and court for the child’s age; whether the coaches hold RSPA or PTR certification and current background screenings, which we require of every coach we refer; what happens on a rain day (Har-Tru does not play wet) and a lightning day (the National Weather Service’s rule is 30 minutes after the last thunder before play resumes, and a dugout or shed is not shelter); and whether the price includes balls, a shirt and the afternoon.
Clinics
A clinic is the camp’s little sibling: a ninety-minute group, once or twice a week, by level, through the season. The Town of East Hampton runs youth clinics at Lt. Lee Hayes Youth Park in spring, summer and fall with online registration; the clubs run adult and junior clinics from beginner to 4.0-plus. Clinic prices are quoted by the club; none publishes them.
FAQ
Common questions
Group lessons or private: which is better for my child?
A group for a child who is new, young or there for the fun: the ball comes from a coach, a feeder and other children, the hour is games, and the price is shared — a camp week is $1,045–1,595 in Southampton and $1,095 on the East Hampton tennis track in 2026, and the Town of East Hampton runs youth clinics in spring, summer and fall. A private for a child with a specific stroke to fix, a tournament to prepare for, or a temperament that shrinks in a crowd; the published Hamptons rate is $175–190 an hour against a $113 national average. Most children here do both: a group for the season and a private when the group has found the problem. The good coaches will tell you which the child needs, and we ask them to.
What age should kids start tennis lessons in the Hamptons?
The programmes here take children from 3: SPORTIME Amagansett’s John McEnroe Tennis Academy groups run for ages 3–18 on the red, orange, green and yellow ball progression, Future Stars’ Little Stars take 3–5 and its Rising Stars 2.5–7, and the Town of East Hampton’s youth clinics run in spring, summer and fall. The equipment agrees: junior racquets run 17–21 inches at ages 3–5 ($35–59), 23 inches at 6–8, 25 inches at 9–10 and 26 inches from 11. What the age should be is a question about the child, not the calendar; we could not read a governing body’s guidance on it, so we do not print a rule. Our advice is a red-ball group for a small child and a private lesson only once the child asks for one.

You tell us about the player once: who is learning, their level, what kind of lessons, when, and where in the Hamptons you are based. We put you in touch with one coach who teaches that age and level in your part of the fork, certified by the RSPA or the PTR and background-checked, and they call you within one business day. From there it is their rate, their schedule and their court, or yours. It is free for players and parents; participating coaches pay us a referral fee for the introduction. We are not a club, a camp or a coaching business, and we do not sell your details; the one coach we send you to is the only one who gets your number. We cover 9 South Fork towns and 6 kinds of coaching.
